Exactly a year ago I was writing an article in China about my amazing Myanmar experience. Time flies when you're having fun. Some of you know that I try to do a yearly challenge for charity. This year I did not do any challenge as we all had a mutual challenge to deal with: COVID-19.
However one of my dear friends, Bela Evers, is going to do a challenge for charity with three other power women which is the superlative of a challenge: rowing 3000 miles across the Atlantic Ocean!!! By doing so these four Dutchess of the Sea have been and will be raising money for ALS Netherlands and the Plastic Soup Foundation.
The Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge, the world’s toughest rowing event, starts in La Gomera in the Canary Islands and finishes in Antigua. Yes, I'll repeat: 3,000 miles across the Atlantic Ocean!
In about two weeks from now they will be rowing in shifts of 2 hours on 2 hours off, storms and 50ft waves that toss their tiny boat, blisters, sea sickness, sunburn, lack of sleep, open sores and dehydrated food. A mental and physical journey awaits them.
In total 55 rowers in 21 resilient teams from 9 countries will aim to cross that 1 magnificent ocean.
To support them in their exciting journey I decided to sponsor them, so with an oar I am "partly joining". Take a look too on their website to find more info and do a donation too. Every little bit helps. Thanks.
